I laughed.

“No.”
“Why?”
“The contract contained too many promises without measurements.”
“Then why bring it?”
“I intended to ask whether your husband knew the firm.”
He looked toward Adrian.
“Saved time.”
I sat beside him.
“When Celeste insulted me, I wanted to disappear.”
“I know.”
“You made everyone look at me.”
“No.”
Grandpa shook his head.
“She made everyone look at you. I made them look at themselves.”
I thought about that for a long time.
